8th Grade Chorus
 Welcome to the Eighth Grade Chorus Webpage!

August and September 2018:
We will do "get to know you" and "team building" exercises.
- We will learn some music history. (where music has come from and how it has and still does influence music of today)
- We will learn some music theory. (how music is put together)
- We will learn some music literacy. (how to read music)
- We will begin to work on blend voices with other singers.
- We will work on solfege and sight reading exercises for warm ups. 
- We will be putting the Semester 1 music vocabulary into our notebook on Thursday and Friday of most weeks starting in October. (Terms are posted on Skyward and the "Choir Resources" web page for students who missed class.)
- We will listen to and select the Winter Concert songs. (Links for the songs will be posted on the "Choir Resources" web page.)

- Write a check made out to John Adams c/o John Adams Choir Program OR send cash with your contact information. Please ensure the check or money is sealed in an envelope. Donations are tax deductible. Mr. Deiss will email or mail out a tax dedication form after the donation has been received and processed.

Students are responsible for bringing a pencil and notebook with them every day. Students will occasionally take notes, do journal entries, and other assigned work. Any assignment will be collected and graded.

Concert Arrival Times
Arrival time for 8th grade is 7:00 pm with the concert for 8th grade at 7:20 pm. Concert will last approximately 20 minutes. Please look at 6th and 7th grade pages for their arrival and concert times. 

2018-2019 Concert Information
Joint John Marshall Winter Concert is on Monday, December 3, 2018 (8th Grade Only)
Winter Concert is on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.
Spring Concert is on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Missed the January 8, 2019 Winter Concert?

Make ups will be from 2:40-3:40 in the choir room on dates to be determined. You must be present the entire time for it to count. Mr. Deiss need to know ahead of time that you are coming so that he can add you to the approved after school student list. 

Performance Attire:

Gentlemen are to wear dress pants with collared dress shirt and dress shoes. Gentlemen may choose to wear a tie.

Ladies are to wear either dress, skirt, or dress pants with matching top and dress shoes. No leggings on their own. Dress and skirt length should be knee or below.
No jeans, t-shirt, and flip flops.
No large logo on any clothing.

There is no set color requirement. Remember that we are a performance group, please refrain from wearing distracting attire. ALL clothing MUST meet the district’s dress code. The dress code is located on page 4 of the Right, Rules, and Regulations document.
